saw a double rainbow, a weaker band of stripes one octave in front of the bright clear shafts that snapped into existence before my eyes in b's blind spot, crossing the bridge to san francisco on our way to the phil lesh singalong benefit event at the maritime hall.

rainbows are such a dangerously hippie cliché. wavy gravy sounds silly (but that's his job) when he talks about "world peace and a rainbow on a stick," and songwriters include the word in their lyrics at their peril (van morrison's deft "there you go/you got rainbows on your feet" in friday's child, his like a rolling stone tune, notwithstanding).
